Cause of death: Acute Lobar Pneumonia
John and his wife Mary were living at 95 Prospect Street in Newark when he contracted pneumonia, an inflammatory illness of the lungs. In this case it was one lung (lobar). Typical symptoms associated with pneumonia include cough, chest pain, fever, and difficulty in breathing. Apparently, he suffered from the illness for a relatively short time (acute means less than 3 weeks) before he died at home.
He was buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Newark.
