Felix Greuter and Margaret Surbeck Greuter Immigration
They arrived at the Castle Garden Federal Immigration Processing Center, located at the southern tip of Manhattan, on August 21, 1865. They travelled aboard the S. S. Duisburg in steerage, the lowest and cheapest category of passenger accommodation in a ship. Felix was a 21-year-old farmer from Singen, and Margaret was his 22-year-old wife. Actually, he was 27 and she was 20. Although it is difficult to make out her surname, it was the custom at that time for married women to use their maiden name when travelling. In Maragaret's case, it should say Surbeck.
