CAUSES OF DEATH

Line

Otto Frederick Bevensee
born October 1897 in Newark, New Jersey
died December 30, 1897, in Newark, New Jersey - age 2 months.

Father: Otto Heinrich Bevensee (1862-1943)
Mother: Anna Greuter (1876-1958)

Cause of death: Eclampsia

Eclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. It is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and significant amounts of protein in the urine. The most common symptoms are seizures or coma. While it is more common in pregnant women, it can be passed on to the child through the mother's blood. We know that Otto's mother, Anna, survived to have two more healthy children. Little Otto lasted two months after birth before succumbing to the disease.
